The Italian Society of Hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery (ISHAWS), the Italian Chapter of the European Hernia Society, established in 2009, the Italian School of Surgery of Hernia and Abdominal Wall.
Aimed at surgeons and residents in general surgery, has as its objective the training of specialists in the treatment of abdominal wall defects.
The teaching programme is structured on multiple levels:
• 1st Level Course
Course of theoretical basis, with the test of the final evaluation, preliminary to the more advanced levels. Duration: 4 days

• 2nd Level course
Theoretical and practical course of performing surgical procedures on the body, under the mentorship of professors of the school.
Duration: 2 days

• 3rd Level course
Practical courses, dedicated to the learning of surgical techniques and the proper use of bio-materials. performed at least 2 facilities accredited.
Duration: 4 days

• Refresher courses
Students will be able to participate in courses, essays, organized or sponsored by the company, on the latest scientific innovations.

• Progress in Surgery of the abdominal wall defects, with the patronage of the European Hernia Society.
Obtained at the end of a training programme that provides for the achievement of 100 credits ISHAWS.
